About the Founder

Work has always been a fulfilling aspect of life for Dan. His first endeavors were mowing lawns and clearing sidewalks in the neighborhood at a young age. Just after graduating middle school, he started as a janitor back at school that summer. College saw opportunities with commercial construction companies and small businesses in Grand Rapids, MI, and even the opportunity to help with the renovation of Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI.

Dan officially began his career managing a commercial real estate portfolio for Ben M. Muller Realty Company in Grand Rapids, while wrapping up the final semester of his senior year at Calvin University. Upon graduating, he spent the following three plus years managing a large portfolio of commercial real estate holdings consisting of retail, office, industrial, and multi-family residential properties.

In 2006 Dan had the opportunity to join a rapidly growing family office in West Michigan by taking a leadership role at the branch family office of a second generation family member.  Over the ensuing 16 years, Dan led the household, properties, and business teams in various capacities. He also oversaw the formation and operation of several companies and partnerships including a large youth sports business. Dan served as the Owner's Representative for a multitude of acquisitions &  dispositions across the country and abroad, commercial and high-end residential construction projects, and business acquisitions. Most recently, Dan was responsible for growing the business development team in support of a large-scale mixed use real estate development in Ada, MI, and an expanding portfolio of operating companies.

In this next career advancement, Dan is excited to be using the experiences garnered over many years in support of family offices and other business owners around the country as the founder of Whorl.
